UPDATE:
Feb 3rd, 2018
Following the goings on of this event has certainly been a rollercoaster.
It has now been announced the Daytona Truck Meet 2018 is on. A spokesperson has told Behind Daytona that the event has the backing of the county and will be held at the racetrack. 2018 will be bigger then ever with over 100 trucks alone coming in from Canada.

Break.....

Daytona truck meet 2018 not so fast.

That's fake news, the Daytona News Journal is at it once again posting the story regarding the success of the 2017 event and that the event will be back next year. Successful Truck Meet

Well it turns out as we've been reporting, the event was not so successful and in fact has been met with stiff resistance from the community, both business owners and residents.

Reports of urinating off the back of trucks incredibly loud music that vibrated and almost broke windows in cars as they drove past the Ocean Center until 5 6 7 in the morning.

At least one business owner on Main Street complained that they didn't get any business at all and had placed advertising for the group, expecting them to show up at the venue.
This did not materialize and in fact the trucks hurt the business by stopping traffic from flowing up and down Main Street.

In 2016 when this event first took place we took notice about the truckers driving through neighborhoods causing problems this year at the last minute the county put up roadblocks which then caused many problems on A1A and traffic to be backed up 4 miles. With Daytona Beach changing and growing the overarching feeling from the community and business owners is that events like this are a thing of the past and they do not want this kind of behavior in the city as it affects the reputation that they are trying to build as a family friendly Beach Community City.
At this time it looks as if County officials are going to bring a halt to the Truck Meet and in fact they no longer have the space they reserved at the Ocean Center the Truck Meet 2018 as of now has been cancelled.

I hope it is either cancelled or is not there next year when we are on vacation. Loud, revved up engines, black smoke, filthy language, dangerous driving on the beach, etc. etc. They took over the parking lot at our hotel (parked in handicap places) and the pool. Worst few days I have EVER been through and I've been vacationing with our family of 40+ for over 45 years!

Not saying all was right, that went on that weekend. But you should probably check for events going on in the area before you book you vacation. Just a thought.

Hahhaha that what you get for taking your kinds to Daytona... what a horrible idea / parenting !!! .. quit penny pinching and take your children to Disney sounds like 40 years of hell, I don't know how you get anyone to go with you !

Truck meet 2017 was honestly the best event I've ever been too! I am a truck lady and love seeing kids progress they have made on their vehicles! This event helps teens/adults show off their trucks and observe others trucks to see what needs to be improved on their own. I loved the event and I hope it is resumed

Honestly most trucks there are sponsored by big companies, such as wheel, suspension, lighting companies... And the rest are young ppl that should focus more on buying a home and moving out of there parents house than American force wheels.... sometimes ya gotta grow up, showing off at the convention center is one thing. Binge drinking in hotel parking lots and doing burnouts gets u no respect.

Events like this are a thing of the past? What about bike week? I'm willing to bet that the one's that are upset over these types of events show up every year for bike week.

I was on vacation there that week, had no clue this was going on! We cruised Ocean Avenue at least 5 times because we thought it was the coolest thing we have ever seen, in fact, we were going to book next years vacation around this! Guess we cant now :( , we will still enjoy Daytona, but man that was so cool!!

I hope everyone that has a truck, any truck, books rooms for the weekend of, and enjoy's the freedom of the open roads. If they don't want traffic jams,re-rout people, just like they do when any other large activity is going on!Daytona made money, rooms, fuel, not to mention all the stores and the FEE for driving on the beach,oh and the traffic citations they were writing. Yeah,,,Daytona made money and the owner's of truck's can't help how busy roads are and where businesses are placed right next to the roads, however people can adjust vacation times and places to go,but then again the smell of gasoline and the sounds of Harley come every October, like clock work, well,,,, Bike week, Biketoberfest that last's 10 days, not 3 with 150,000 people.. excuse me,,,how does that happen in silence exactly? I smell a little DISCRIMINATION here...What's the difference? A Bike going down the road can vibrate the buildings just as loud at 234 AM,your point is? It's one time a year for a few day's,,,,GET OVER IT,, LIFE IS SHORT,,,LIVE IT,ENJOY IT!!

Not so fast,,,, Everyone who owns and wants to show off a truck that weekend can always still show up. HA HA HA Not everyone went to the Truck Show, I am one,, but I still had a room and still showed off my truck with my 2 boy's. That's right, family time and I also spent a lot of money those 3 day's. People could be doing a whole lot worse. Be thankful we live in America and we all make sacrifices to let us all be happy with the hobbies we all have. You have your's.
