This was the view from my table today. It was a nice lazy afternoon in the Keys. When you
come to the Hurricane Hole, be prepared for a laid back place. It takes a
little time to get your service, but the servers are friendly and will do
their best to get you exactly what you want here. It is outdoor dining
as is most dining in Key West, but there is plenty of shade and a good
breeze off the marina. All and all it is a place I enjoy going to and would
recommend to friends, as long as they are not in a hurry.
The History Behind Hurricane Hole Key West
The name Hurricane Hole came about due to the 2 lagoons located
on the property. These lagoons are known as "Hurricane Holes".
Hurricane Holes are ideal locations to moor your boat during a hurricane. They
are deep, narrow coves or inlets that are surrounded by a number of
sturdy trees which block the wind and provide a tie-off for anchor lines. During
Hurricane Season, the lagoons are actively used for vessel shelter.
