PRESS RELEASE - Peabody Auditorium
JIM BELUSHI & THE BOARD OF COMEDY Perform at The Peabody Friday, January 25, 2019 @ 7:30 p.m. Daytona Beach – June 4, 2018…Jim Belushi brings his show, Jim Belushi & The Board of Comedy, to The Peabody Friday, January 25, 2019 for a 7:30 p.m. show. Tickets go on sale to the general public this Friday, June 8, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. With more than thirty years of experience and an alumnus of “Saturday Night Live” and Chicago’s famed Second City, JIM BELUSHI is now bringing to the stage an improvised comedy sketch show featuring members of the Board of Comedy. Belushi starred on the ABC hit comedy "According to Jim,” on which he also served as executive producer, music composer and director. After wrapping 182 episodes for its eighth and final season, the family favorite series also hit a milestone when it launched into off-net syndication in 2007. A favorite of film, television and stage audiences, Belushi is one of the great leading character actors equally at home in drama and comedy, and a gifted performer who can also hold a room as front man of a rhythm and blues band. Accompanying Belushi are Megan Grano, Larry Joe Campbell, Trey Stone and Joshua Funk, all of whom are classically trained professional improvisers who tour regularly nationwide. “This group of actors brings me right back to how I started out in comedy, stated Jim Belushi. Maybe that's why we have so much fun doing it." JIM BELUSHI AND THE BOARD OF COMEDY "We are not stand-up comedians. Our show is not a passive, sit-back-and-watch experience. Most of the fun we have on stage comes from our inclusion of the audience – we get suggestions from them to begin each scene we perform, and in certain instances, bring them on-stage with us to add to our performance. It's less a ‘show’ and more a party. At least it feels like one to me.” – Jim Belushi MEGAN GRANO Megan Grano has appeared on TV in Weeds, Parks and Recreation, Hot in Cleveland, Conan, The Great State of Georgia, and American Dad. Film roles include Bridesmaids and This is 40. She is a 2007 alum of The Second City Chicago. Megan is also an iO Theater alum, where she has performed since 1999. She is beyond grateful to be a part of the Board of Comedy. LARRY JOE CAMPBELL Larry Joe Campbell is excited to be onstage with this super talented cast! And he is ecstatic to be back with Jim again having worked together for 8 seasons on According to Jim. Since then, Larry has appeared in the movies Hall Pass and Killers and has had recurring roles on Weeds, Rules of Engagement, and Lifetime's The Protector. Larry Joe was recently seen in R.I.P.D. with Ryan Reynolds and Kevin Bacon and in Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim. Larry Joe lives in Los Angeles with his wife, Peggy, and their five children. Larry would like you to know that he loves you. (Yes, you. The one who's reading this.) JOSHUA FUNK Joshua Funk is a multiple award-winning director and alum from The Second City in Chicago. His television and film credits include Key & Peele, Reno 911, Wild n' Out, and Steven Soderbergh's The Informant. Recently, he had a blast filming Kenny Ortega's A Change of Heart with Jim Belushi and Larry Joe Campbell. When he is not acting, Joshua composes and produces the original music for Comedy Central's hit show Key & Peele. He is also the artistic director for The Second City Hollywood and the director of Jim Belushi and the Board of Comedy. TREY STONE Starting off as a humble jazz pianist in Chicago, Trey Stone eventually had the good fortune to become Musical Director at The Second City in Chicago, where he served in that capacity for fifteen years. In 2013, Trey released his critically acclaimed album "Ahead of the Pack," featuring his rock-and-roll, New Orleans, and country-influenced songwriting and piano. Trey currently lives in Dayton, Ohio, where he records and tours with his band, Trey Stone and the Ringers, and lives with his two beautiful children, Cece, George and Elwood. Story and Photos Jeff Stolowitz Daytona Beach Screams and shrieks were not the usual kind on the Boardwalk in Daytona Beach last night, they were of fear and pain as two people were ejected from the Rollercoaster falling more then 30 feet after a malfunction. No comment yet has been given by Daytona Beach Boardwalk Amusement Rides as to the cause. According to our sources at least 4 other people were injured a total of 6 were transported to the hospital. A tower truck was used by the DBFD as they rescued a total of 10 people who were in 3 cars. Weather has not been given as a cause either. Witnesses report hearing a grind shriek as the malfunction occurred. We have no reports at this time of violations and while no fatalities were reported yet, it is a reminder of the lenient and unenforced codes and desperate need for infrastructure that are at issue in Daytona Beach. With the announcement of the departure of the perceived public enemy County ManagerJim Dinneen, questions will be raised as to who is at fault for this. Will it be Jim Chisholm's turn to throw in the towel. More to come on this story as details emerge. Live Video https://www.facebook.com/BehindDaytona/videos/1697729306948969/ By Staff Writer We reached out to the DBPD and asked for citation statistics for the weekend. The results are staggering. *These results are not final and do not include Sunday June 3rd
Last years event was met with stiff resistance from the community. We expect more of the same this year. Traffic was a major issue as the event collided with graduation, however due to the great work by Chief Capri's officers our neighborhoods were safer and certainly quieter as the side streets were barricaded and the barricades were enforced. A day that Main Street Station patrons & loyal Rock of Daytona radio station listeners were waiting for had finally arrived. After 21 days of hopeful entries, we now have a winner in the drawing for a cruise joining The Rock of Daytona when they hit the high seas later this year. Our lucky winner is: Ron Czarney Congrats from us at Behind Daytona and Stknthe80s Rock Pix Photography! There were multiple winners of other giveaway items such as radio staion T-shirts and free car washes. It was a great night at Main Street Station. For more information on the cruise or how YOU could enter other drawings for a free cruise in the area, please visit their website : therockofdaytona.com/ |
