5:45 pm Daytona Beach Our sources confirm that a graduate of Mainland High School, Christopher Alan Whealen, DOB 7/31/89 has been named as the principle suspect in Saturday morning's hit and run on Seabreeze Blvd. that took the life of 24 year old Justin Gary. It is reported that the driver of the vehicle, Christopher Whealen, was an employee at the Seabreeze Taphouse. It has not been confirmed whether he had been working or not prior to the incident. Witnesses reported he was heavily intoxicated. We have reached out to the owners of the Seabreeze Tap House for a statement. They have not yet responded. As more emerges about this tragedy the story is looking much worse. Code enforcement issues and violence due to over-served patrons is a plague. The cost to our community and its families is tremendous. Officially, Daytona’s PIO Lyda Longa has confirmed that Mr. Whealen has been questioned but is not yet in custody. Justin Gary's employer, Richard Kitt of the Daytona Taproom Group of Restaurants, is planning a memorial service and has been collecting donations for the family. The date for the service has not been determined. Anyone who would like to help Justin's family can send donations to the Tomoka Christian Church in Ormond Beach, where his funeral will be held later this week. Anyone with information about the incident may text "CRIMES" (274637), or log on to dbpd.us and follow the link to Anonymous Web Tips. Police said that, when using a cellphone, all messages should begin with "DBTIPS." Tipsters will remain anonymous.

There is no confirmation although sources say this is a repeat offender. The police have a suspect no arrests have been made yet and the Daytona Police Department has been quiet. Meanwhile friends and family mourn the passing of Justin Alexander. We stopped by the Daytona Taproom to talk with Richard Kitt the owner of the Daytona Tap Room Group of restaurants. He was the employer of Justin. Rick was distraught and that is an understatement. Justin's colleagues would not give in to the depression and instead celebrated his life with shots of Jameson with picklebacks and makeshift Memorial outside where he worked. Grieving family, colleagues, friends and the community are left with the same feeling over and over again why, why now, why somebody so young how do we stop this? Daytona Beach Police Chief Craig Capri and his department have done everything right, sometimes things just go terribly wrong. The police and detectives are certainly building a case and it is hoped an arrest will be made soon. Anyone with Information is urged to contact the DBPD. All calls will be kept confidential. Have you noticed the rapid rise in Gas prices. There has been a jump of more then $0.25 per gallon at some stations. Since there has been no mention of this in Main Stream Media, we ask how this might affect your plans for the remainder of the summer. Is inflation on the rise? We see signs across the board. From rising rents to rising prices at the grocery store it seems that corporate America is unchecked and is reaching deeper into your pockets. We at Behind Daytona have taken notice have you?
